Pierre-August Renoir, a French artist and leader in the impressionist movement, created "A Dance in the Country" in 1883. His loose signature style coupled with pleasant subject matter made Renoir a favorite among art patrons and wealthy collectors. The series he completed focusing on dancers at various locations always included relaxed smiling and happy faces. This body of work depicted the carefree Parisian Life and exuded a genuine feeling of the dance. Over his career he created several thousand paintings and studied with such famous artists as Claude Monet and Alfred Sisley. "A Dance in the Country" is currently housed in Musee d'Orsay in Paris, France.
